Unless the god of El Nino chooses to show his head winter has descended upon my part of the planet. We got our first snow a few days ago and it is still coming down. There should be another 2 inches on the ground by morning. Thank heavens my son in law roto tilled my garden yesterday or I would have to contend with an unruly mess in the spring. Been very few Octobers we have not had snow by Halloween so this is the norm. Global warming seems to be more prevelant in the spring and during the winter than the beginning of it. With the price of heating oil we all have to be fools living in this climate. Can we just put all systems on automatic and come back in the spring. My oxygen level seems to be getting worse. The VA doctor said I will be bad for some time to come from the viral pneumonia. In june is was at 90% and yesterday at the VA I was 79%. When I am that low walking is an effort not to just pass out let alone do anything. God I hope I get better. The thought of being tethered to oxygen for the rest of my days does not sit will with me..................

I am sure glad no one derives any medicinal value by reading my blog for the infrequency of my posting would have by now produced a statistic in the obituary column. A summer has lapsed since my last post and with that a garden has grown, produced and been harvested of vast bounty of vegetables. If I would of had my health I would of done much better but then again if I had procrastinated about my health again mine larder would be bare. I am content that I got more out of my garden than was put into it, god does look down on drunks and fools. I am looking forward to having a garden again next summer and weeding better and spacing better. My carrots were spaced too close and I never did get around to spacing them out after they lifted their first green leafs in search of the life giving sun. I ended up with a vast quantity of carrots that are almost impossible to give away. Like most vegetables you purchase in the market fresh out of the garden outshines them by leaps and bounds. But for some reason people do not eat a lot of carrots or maybe because of my abundance it seems that way. There have been some sweet parts though. I traded some carrots yesterday for a new battery for my cell phone with the provider. I can just see that memo back to the home offices. I grew red and white potatoes this year and both did well with no blight. I like the reds better than the whites and I don't know how that is possible but there it is. Tomatoes were a bust this year. They matured late and did not get big but oh lord what I did get was worth every effort entailed in their growth. Nothing beats a tomato fresh off the vine. So in summation gardening was great with ups and downs but always that feeling that next year will be better and I will do this or that different to get different results. Because if you do the same thing all the time expect the same results all the time. .......Think green
